We are experts in the application of Accelerated Carbonation Technology (ACT) for carbon capture.
ACT is a genuine Carbon Capture and utilisation (CCU) process. Carbon dioxide is permanently captured as stable carbonate minerals.

Very little energy is required for the process, which relies upon the reactivity of the waste material. Many wastes are naturally reactive with carbon dioxide in the presence of water. If the conditions are carefully controlled, this natural reaction can be accelerated, taking place in minutes rather than years and resulting in the formation of calcium carbonate (manufactured limestone).
Water acts as a solvent, allowing CO₂ and calcium ions to readily react. The reaction forms a solid carbonate precipitate.
ACT has been demonstrated utilising a variety of gas sources. O.C.O is actively developing direct-from-flue-gas capture.
ACT is an effective process to treat and stabilise waste. See our Waste Treatment page.
ACT can also valorise wastes into sustainable products such as our carbon-neutral* M-LS aggregate. See our Sustainable Construction Products.
*The carbon storage associated with the M-LS product is managed in Puro Registry for carbon removal credits and is only available by separate negotiation with O.C.O
